Bhutan is a small landlocked country located in the eastern Himalayas, and it can be accessed by air or land. Here are the ways to get to Bhutan:
- By air: The easiest way to get to Bhutan is by air. The country has one international airport, Paro International Airport, which is located in the western part of the country. Paro airport is served by two airlines, Drukair and Bhutan Airlines, and they operate flights to and from a few cities in India, Thailand, Singapore, and Nepal.
- Overland: If you are traveling from India, you can enter Bhutan by land through the border crossings at Phuentsholing, Gelephu, and Samdrup Jongkhar. Phuentsholing is the most popular entry point, and it is located in the southern part of Bhutan, near the Indian town of Jaigaon. From Phuentsholing, it takes about 5-6 hours to reach Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.
Please note that all visitors to Bhutan, except for citizens of India, all are required to obtain a visa before arriving in Bhutan. The visa can only be processed through an authorized Bhutanese tour operator, and you must book your trip through them as well.
