    Jakar Dzong

Jakar Dzong means the fortress of the White Bird. The dzong was built in around 1549 by Lam Ngagi Wangchuk. He chose the location after a white bird flew from the first location where he intended to built the Dzong to the current location. He then named the dzong, Bjakar dzong, the fortress of white bird. Jakar village lies right below the hill on which dzong is built. The dzong was later extended by Desi Tenzin Rabgye. It houses the district administration offices and the district monastic body.
